The Journey: FreezeCrowd

FreezeCrowd, this is how it's done!

Life is a journey, we’re in a world where we can look as it as a destination, yet it’s really a journey if you’ve got a great vision. If your only goal is to launch something, and that’s it, you’re thinking that’s a destination, yet if you’ve got a deeper, and stronger vision for something, it’s a journey.  In 1999 I came up with an idea, a visionary idea, and somewhat dreamy idea to connect people in photos, and to take paper yearbooks and digitize them into interactive yearbooks where college students could connect with their friends in photos.  Here we are in the year 2010, and I’m working towards launching FreezeCrowd, which originally came to my mind from “3s a Crowd” and not quite sure where I heard the name “3s a Crowd” in my life, yet somehow the name changed (yes I changed it, the number 3 was too small) to FreezeCrowd, which will be a way to “freeze” people’s photographic memories in crowd and group photos.  The idea itself is to connect people better, to make a connection among people you’ve taken photos with in real life, whether it’s a friend at an event, or a friend in a group, team, or even if you’re just hanging out and looking to connect.  Life is better together, and proving you’ve been together is what you will get with FreezeCrowd, yet that’s not all, you get to connect with the people you’ve taken a photo with, who are hopefully your friends or could be your friends!

The Journey:

I’ll say it again and again, it’s a journey, not a destination. Everyone in my family wants me to launch, everyone has kept telling me to launch, and it’s certainly been a journey to get to a point, where I believe we have a site that’s able to launch. As an entrepreneur, I’ve dealt with challenges, that other people will never have to deal with in their lives.  I’ve also had such a belief in FreezeCrowd, to the point that I actually think it means something, or at least as an entrepreneur, you begin to believe in your dreams, and your ideas.  I think it means something that people are together in real life and take photos together, it means something that people can connect with people in the photo with the people who they’ve spent a real life experience with, rather than just on a profile page saying “hi” and “bye” as this being together proves we’re friends.  Adding a friend on a social networking site such as FreezeCrowd will mean something, as your friendship is bound by communicating with friends in photos, the people you know and trust most, are hopefully the ones you’ve been with and taken a group photo.

A Visionary:

Just because something takes long, it does not make me a perfectionist, it makes me a visionary. A visionary is someone who could look out into a field, and see something that nobody else sees right away.  A visionary is someone who could see something great when there really is nothing there to see, unless the visionary explains the vision. A visionary is someone who believes in his vision, and will sacrifice and risk their life to make the vision come true.  That’s what I am, a visionary.  I’m an inventor, who is looking to go the extra mile, just to see his vision come true someday.  I see the longtail vision, and it’s not just about me, it’s about connecting the people, connecting the crowds of people, and that’s what I envision for FreezeCrowd.

The Challenge:

I’m not saying it’s been easy, it’s certainly been a challenge, and I’ve been through a lot of challenges that most entrepreneurs fear to talk about or blog about.  I’m the kind of entrepreneur, that I believe is rare, yet I also believe I’m looking to change the world in some ways.  I believe in changing the world, to change the way people connect.  People connecting together, makes a better connected world than people connecting apart.  I truly believe that people coming together connects people better when they are apart on the Internet.

FreezeCrowd:

This is what it’s all about.  This is where we’re headed, we’re headed to a place where college students will be able to connect together, rather than just apart.  Get together with your friend.  It could be 1 friend, 2 friends, or even 3 as I’ve envisioned.  We can do it, we can connect you better than you’ve ever imagined with FreezeCrowd, yet it’s not just about me.  It’s about you.  You’ve got to want to do it.

What I’m Doing:

I’m traveling the country promoting FreezeCrowd.  That’s right, even though my family and parents had mixed thoughts about it, and I did it last year.  I’m doing it again this year. I’m going on college campuses.  Today, I was at the CollegeFest event in Boston and I’m going to different colleges and universities promoting a soon to be great social networking site for college students.   The great thing is, it’s something that people will be able to do together, and when I say together, it just doesn’t mean on the Internet, it means both on and off the Internet.  I see it, envision it, and see the vision coming to life.  Coming to a campus near you, FreezeCrowd!
